According to an investigation by Education First Alliance (EFA), Superintendent Catherine Truitt is allowing more accused and convicted sexual predators to keep their teaching licenses than her predecessors, Mark Johnson and June Atkinson.

Education First Alliance gathered the databases of certified teachers and disciplined teachers using the DPI Licensure System and the Revoked License webpage on the DPI’s website between 2016 - 2022.
In 2016, under Democrat June Atkinson, 25 teachers had their licenses revoked for immoral or illegal acts. Republican Mark Johnson averaged 15 revocations during his tenure. Although Superintendent Truitt acknowledged that schools are more saturated with sexual predators than ever before, she averaged 4.5 revocations in the years 2021 and 2022.
